GuatePhoto 2015 (November 12 – 30)

Posted on November - 17 - 2015

Guatemala is having an amazing moment in the world of photography! Until November 30, Guatemala City and Antigua will offer its photo fanatics a tour through 47 exhibitions featuring artwork by more than 700 artists, along with an amazing assortment of events and learning activities. Scoop Art favorites Eny Roland Hernández and Daniel Chauche are exhibiting their work as well! Make sure to read our Scoop Art Spotlights on some of the Latin American artists participating in this event before you go.

GuatePhoto is an international photography festival enjoying its third succesful year, now with a more dynamic participation from its contemporary artists, staff and audiences. Since its early start in 2013, GuatePhoto has worked towards creating a space that promotes, documents and celebrates contemporary photography by offering exhibitions, discussions, portfolio revisions and other lively events.

By creating such a lively atmosphere, this festival has quickly positioned itself as one of the leaders of Latin American photography. Up and coming artists, new aesthetics and crisp spaces (gardens, street art and bus stations, anyone?) help create an inviting scene for artists from all over the world as well.

From their website: GuatePhoto consists of an excellent board of advisors comprised by photographers, academics, cultural agents, curators and businessmen of great prestige who will accompany the process of direction and production of the event.

Amongst them is Adriana Teresa (Curator), Alejandro Cartagena (Photographer), Alessandra Lossau (Mayors Office), Henry Bastos (Cultural Promoter), Javi del Cid (Cultural Promoter), Laura Moya (Cultural Promoter), Marta Soul (Curator and Critic), Matías de Tezanos (Entrepreneur), Rosina Cazali (Curator and Critic), and Emilio Méndez (Entrepeneur).
